SAR Veterans' Visit SALH

Event success factor: To have the soldiers of the Light Horse be able to liaison with Veterns one of our lineage units, the South Alberta Regiment.
Project Update, Sept. 05, 2006,
The SALH will demonstrate current techniques that are being exercised in Afghanistan by soldiers of the Regiment to our veterans. A range of activities are planned at the armoury and will continue in a formal dinner in the evening.
The SAR Veterans arrive at the SALH Lines and are met wtih a 1/4 Guard commanded by Sgt. Fraser.:
The SAR vets receive a personal Operations Briefing About what the Regiment is upto this year:
The Regiment then unveiled the Historic SAR Command Half Track that members of the Regiment refurbished over the last few years and with the unbelievable support of Reg. Hodgson, showed the SAR Vets a Lynx painted with SAR colours.
Reg Hodgson receives a personal thank you from the HCol.
The Officer Command "B" Sqn, honoured the SAR by wearing the SAR uniform from World War 2.
Next the Regiment presented a full demonstation on some of the training we are preparing to present to the Brigade training exercise next week-end. This exercise was on treat and evac casualties. It was well received by the vets.
Finally the vets were treated to an amazing display of vintage vehicles compliments of Reg Hodgson and his association of restoration experts:
The SAR vets then spent the rest of the day examining the exhibits and enjoying the tour of the regimental lines.
