SALH The South Alberta Light Horse is an Armoured Reconnaissance Regiment and part of the Canadian Army Primary Reserve.

Based in Edmonton and Medicine Hat Alberta, the SALH is the Pan-Alberta Regiment, with a deep and proud history of service to Canada and the Crown.

Soldiers of the SALH train in the reconnaissance role. As reconnaissance soldiers, they are trained to observe and report on their surroundings. They train to operate a variety of vehicles, including the GWagon and MILCOTS. In order to protect themselves, they are trained on a variety of personal and crew-served weapons.

The South Alberta Light Horse is one of the last of the "Light Horse" Regiments in the Commonwealth and our members are continually answering the call of duty by serving within NATO, the United Nations and locally to emergencies within Canada.

The South Alberta Light Horse has existed historically in various forms since the Northwest Rebellion of 1885 and has a glorious record of service in both the First and Second World Wars.

We welcome you to the site and and hope you enjoy learning more of our past and share the Regimental experience with our current members.
